How To Encourage Natural Light Into Your Home

3 ways of enticing more natural light into your home

Have you noticed how much different your home feels when the sun’s shining outside and all that natural light is hitting your living space?

Being in that kind of atmosphere makes you feel good about yourself, and with spring coming, we’ll be exposed to more of it indoors, or at least you should be.

If you’d like to get more external light infiltrating your home, there are plenty of things you can do, including these three very effective solutions.

Install new aluminium windows

It’s through your windows that the majority of natural light is captured. They will transport even more of it inside if you have the latest slim-line aluminium windows fitted from Speedy.

Our Eclipse aluminium windows have a design that marginalises framework so that they can carry a far larger pane of glass than you get in a traditional window with chunkier frames.

We’ve been able to create the Eclipse range because of the amazing flexibility of aluminium, allowing the glass area to be maximised. Use of aluminium also makes these windows incredibly tough and secure.

Pay attention to the outside

Do you have any trees, plants or bushes in the direct line of your windows and doors that are obstructing the sun?

Take your garden shears to them, cutting them back or just trimming these accordingly so that nothing stands in the way of the sun. Once done, your home will feel significantly brighter and possibly a little bit warmer too.

Get roof windows or a skylight

Use the sky above and consider having roof windows installed in any room that’s shy of light, such a loft space, which you may be able to work in or designate as a guest room.

Roof windows are also a good addition to solid roofs if you are looking to replace an old conservatory or orangery roof and don’t want to lose light from the interior.

For a larger glazed facet, a skylight or roof lantern would be a fantastic choice. They add stature to a room, and their many crisp angles and clean lines help the sun powerfully surge through them. A tinted glass can be included so that they generate a certain type of ambience.
