A salesperson may try to capitalise on that by using the ‘price conditioning’ method, where they give you a quote and tell you that you definitely won’t get a cheaper quote anywhere else, knowing full well that isn’t true.

False discount

To know what you should expect to pay, it’s always best to shop around and get a quote from three or more different companies.

The craftiest salespeople don’t want you to shop around and will try to prevent it by giving you a false discount that has to be accepted there and then. It may sound an enticing discount, but believe us, it won’t be one that gives you the value for money they claim it will.

Big price drop

This is a shock tactic and involves a salesperson massively over quoting the cost of new windows and doors.

They’ll want you to be taken aback by it so that when they then vastly reduce the original quote, you think you’re getting a bargain. In reality, it won’t be a bargain price though.

Overcharging

“What would you like to pay for your new windows and doors?”

This is a question a salesperson may pose to you so that they can obtain a figure and then try and manipulate it to their advantage.
